Great Zimbabwe & Matobo Hills Heritage Route
Stand inside Africa's greatest medieval city, then track rhino on foot among the balanced boulders of the Matobo Hills.
Two world-class heritage sites in one long weekend.
Day one is Great Zimbabwe — the largest ancient stone structure south of the Sahara — with a local guide who makes the dry-hewn walls make sense. Then we swing west to the Matobo Hills, where granite domes stack like bread and San rock art hides in painted caves.
The finale: a guided walk tracking white rhino on foot, at a safe, regulated distance. It is humbling. Bring binoculars and a spare memory card.
